This picture is again from Espoo, Finland, taken on the entrance to a housing complex area consisting of mostly row houses. The textual part of the sign states "Yksityinen piha-alue", translating to "Private yard area", and in conjunction with the bright yellow background and the exclamation triangle mark calling for attention the implied "no trespassing" is quite immediately grasped from the sign.
What I really like is the sign vessel. The quite large and alarming exclamation mark is, to my eyes, in a fun contrast with being placed in a flower pot. Though I do not recall the place well enough to say if there would have been other natural places to set the sign, so this choice might have been mandated by lack of options. Though I do note that such a low placement will make this sign disappear from sight on the more snowy months.
Another interesting note here is the choice of language. The sign is only in Finnish, which is a quite limiting choice as the visual component does not replicate the message. So this sign is not targeted to e.g. foreigners or other people who do not speak Finnish.1 So the target is then other locals? It would be interesting to conduct some sort of ethnographic survey on the border enforcement of the local housing communities.

This image is from a neighborhood with an above average amount of Finnish people having Swedish as their native tongue. But by personal anecdotal experience, I would find it very unlikely that there would be any Finnish people speaking no Finnish at all in this neighborhood. ↩
