Boring Tuesdays: Scale checkup timing

This post is part of our Boring series, where one Tuesdays we sometimes post analyses on signs we did not find particularly interesting. The idea is to offset personal biases.

This sign was a sticker that was attached to a candy-weighing scale in a grocery store in Espoo. It informs the viewer about the next point in time when the scale will be verified by, presumably, a scale technician from a company called Kiwa inspecta. The sticker is quite small and partially covered in various residue, meaning that is does not seem to be crucial for it to be viewable on a frequent basis.

The year is simply printed on the sticker, but the month has been clipped from the sticker with a circle cutter. This clipping makes it hard to edit the expiration month of the sticker, thus discouraging tampering. With the year printed on the sticker, we further deduce that the Kiwa inspecta company has a relatively easy way of printing such stickers, or then they have a good estimate on how many they should produce for a given year.

P.S. We note that this picture is a few months old when this post is being posted. At the time of photographing it, it had not yet expired.
